    This story is found in "California Treasures" book published by Macmillan/McGraw-Hill for many school districts.  The story is written by George Selden.  He has written other books like "Harry Kitten and Tucker Mouse," "Tucker's Countryside," "Stuart Little," and "Charlotte's Web."
